Students taking this course are expected to have completed at least a 5th grade mathematics program and must be able to do arithmetic quickly and accurately without a calculator. Students are expected to have a good attitude and a willingness to work. Practice makes everything easier. Prealgebra is a middle school math course but is not appropriate for a high school math credit. All math classes are recorded and available to students. Homework is collected and graded weekly with individual comments. Tests are hand graded too.
Participants are required to have a TI-36X Pro calculator and the required textbook. Students must have a computer, webcam, headphones with a built-in microphone, a printer, and a way to scan and email completed tests to the instructor.
A course syllabus will be provided with a course schedule, the course description, and the course expectations. At the end of Prealgebra, the instructor will provide a recommended course grade based on in-class work, quizzes, and tests.
