I am a tenured math professor with a PhD, and I homeschooled my children from the start. My hobbies include reading, gardening, writing, and drawing/painting. We have border collies who live inside and keep us entertained.
In order for my own children to have peers to study and enjoy literature with, I began offering Lit for Teens via Skype in 2011. This has been great fun for me, and my children made several very close friends through these classes. In 2014, I began offering Math for Teens. So far, I have offered Integrated Math, Algebra 1,
Algebra 2, Geometry, Trig, College Algebra, PreCalculus,
Calculus 1, and Calculus 2 Camp.
My youngest graduated from McGill University, in Montreal, QC, with a degree in pipe organ performance and a minor in music theory. She is doing graduate studies, full ride, at the University of Notre Dame this fall. My middle child is a PhD student with a full ride at McGill University.studying and researching groundwater vulnerability in the Yukon. My eldest is working on a PhD in geochemistry at Texas A&M. In short, I no longer need to offer these Classes for Teens for my own children; however, I do love working with homeschool teens and have decided to continue to offer some online classes.

LINDSEY
I am from Missouri, where we live on an urban acre with a big garden and lots of pets. I have two kids, one homeschooled K-10 and one still homeschooling in 8th grade. Both kids have taken Classes for Teens and had great experiences, not just with the content but also with the community of kids. I myself was homeschooled in the 1980s and loved the freedom to explore my interests, which are wide ranging! I am currently in the last year of a part-time graduate program in Community Conservation through Miami University, and I work part-time with my city's waste reduction education program. I've also worked for almost 20 years as a public library reference assistant, where my favorite part of the job is helping people find their next favorite book!
I love reading, books, and exploring literature--re-visiting all the childhood classics, and all the amazing new books and authors, has been one of my favorite parts of homeschooling. My favorite books from my childhood are the Noel Streatfeild “Shoes” books; I am a huge ‘cozy mystery’ fan; and I love adventure and science non-fiction, especially with a focus on women’s stories! We are a readloud family-my son and I are working our way through the 12 book Swallows and Amazons series by Arthur Ransome right now.
A couple of fun facts about me--I served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Armenia, and I have lived in every ‘M’ state except Mississippi and Montana! I am looking forward to meeting our new and returning students this fall!
